Susan and I (re-)met by coincidence while she was working for the Wilderness Society in Washington DC and I was making monthly business trips to DC. With her energy, cheerfulness, humor, and our shared love of sailing and mountains, she quickly became one of my closest friends. Susan returned to the Bay Area for graduate school in Energy and Resources at UCB, still making time for regular trips to the Sierra. She attended our 1982 reunion, but we lost her all-to-soon thereafter. Susan was a wonderful friend, and I still miss her.
